Toyota Hybrids Recalled For Power Window Switch Issues

 Some hybrid models have been included in Toyota’s latest recall of window switches.

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. (TMS), announced yesterday that it will conduct a security recall involving approximately a pair of.5 million vehicles to examine and apply special fluorine grease to the driver’s facet Power Window Master Switch (PWMS).

Hybrid models included in this recall are approximately 116,800 2007 to 2009 Camry Hybrid and approximately 23,200 2008 Highlander Hybrid.

The driver’s aspect PWMS may expertise a “notchy” or sticky feel during operation. If commercially accessible lubricants are applied to the switch in an try to address the “notchy” or sticky feel, melting of the switch assembly or smoke might occur and lead to a fireplace under some circumstances.

The “notchy” or sticky feel could be caused by an uneven application of the grease during the switch assembly method at the supplier. If the grease isn't applied evenly, frequent use of the switch and traditional operation could cause the grease to become carbonized and might eventually result in the deterioration of its lubricating properties.
