The Hertz Corporation has just in the Oklahoma City region started what has hoped, the first more pilot programs for the rental of compressed natural gas powered vehicles in the United States

The initially modest number of eight CNG are Honda Civics and two CNG GMC Yukon by will Rogers World Airport. This last step added to a CNG on demand program at Oklahoma State University, and actually is an extension for CNG from rental fleets in Italy and the United Kingdom.

Why not some place Southern California and Oklahoma? Infrastructure, and the fact that several top CNG producers are located in the State.

The first vehicles of the Hertz Rent-a-car be therefore more than 70 natural gas filling stations places in Oklahoma, either access to or for the construction provided.

Compressed natural gas has long been popular with the vehicle fleet companies for a variety of commercial applications. Whether it runs taxis, vans and pickup trucks, its adaptability to existing vessels often makes a logical choice. What's more, is its price usually half, that of petrol, and - as electricity - energy that is in the United States

However still not outside the vehicle use, CNG really for consumer vehicles in large numbers - still enforced. But now a step closer also car rental companies come for populating streets with CNG vehicles, begin to use it.

In this case heart of the programme is done by the Donlen Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hertz, and it is not surprising Hertz would be involved in such an experiment.

The company has offered alternately in the 1960s muscle cars, currently it has started a "green collection" of hybrid and electric car rental and Hertz is in car-sharing and branching.

We believe that companies position themselves not only in the hybrid and electric arena, but also to hear advantage of America's natural gas reserves.

Hertz did not say where the next CNG rental might be able, but Aubrey McClendon k., Chief Executive Officer for natural gas provider Chesapeake Energy Corporation specified this etc may be only a first step towards.

"We hope that the success of the Hertz nationwide leads program in Oklahoma City to the adoption of this programme," he said.
