Does a Body Kit on a Hybrid Lower Gas Mileage?

There are enthusiasts for every type of vehicle in the world and it's these individuals that drive the market. No matter the purpose, any vehicle will inevitably be tweaked by it's owner, for looks, for speed, or sound. The new hybrid market will be no exception, we are already seeing a few body kits developed for hybrids like the Toyota Prius and Honda Civic. But what affect does this have on the greenness of the hybrid car, will adding a body kit affect gas mileage and efficiency?

The answer to this question can only be answered by what type of kit you are adding. The body kits available now are small, stylish, and only add subtle styling cues. As the market matures I'm sure there will be more and more outrageous styles, but for now any kit you add will not likely affect your hybrids efficiency. These body kits replace the bumpers and side skirts existing on the car, they generally are not added on top of. Therefore you are not adding weight to your hybrid car.

Something else to consider when adding body kits to a hybrid car is how it will affect aerodynamics. As mentioned previously, most hybrid body kits are not outrageous, they are small enough to where they will not be adding considerable drag. However, if you plan on adding a large spoiler or large mouth front bumper, it's possible to lose some gas mileage. The more drag a car has the harder the engine must work, therefore adding too large of body kit components can decrease your gas mileage.

When looking for a body kit for your hybrid car, don't forget why you decided on a hybrid in the first place. It's important that any additions you make to the vehicle will not adversely affect it's efficiency. However, purchasing a stylish and simple body kit will not likely affect gas mileage in any noticeable manner. Lastly, remember that enthusiasts like yourself drive the market and the more kits sold the more that will be designed and released.

North Carolina Health Insurance Coverage Plans

Most residents of North Carolina who apply for individual health insurance apply for the innovative Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina (bcbsnc) Blue Advantage medical insurance plan. The Blue Advantage insurance plan is a PPO health insurance plan in North Carolina that individuals and families subscribe to for quality medical insurance and benefits if they don't have health insurance provided for them through their job. Applicants that have no health issues get extremely low rates and a good value for their health care dollars. Blue Advantage applicants with health problems may have their insurance premium increased to an unacceptable level after Blue Cross Blue Shield NC issues final rates.

Yes, you can pay BCBSNC with a credit card.

After you have gone through the quoting process with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina®, and have made a selection, it will be necessary to provide BCBSNC® with the first premium payment. Your credit card will be charged at the the time you accept coverage. It doesn't matter that your insurance policy's effective date is thirty days in the future, they will charge the card immediately.

The credit card can be used for the first payment only. You will be billed monthly for all subsequent payments. (Technically, BCBSNC® will allow you to pay monthly with the credit card, but you must fill out the credit card section on the back of the premium statement each month. Most members, I have found, on monthly billing, will pay by check.

Paying by checking account:

Probably the easiest way to make sure that your health insurance payment is made every month, is to have your account debited automatically by BCBSNC®. Provide them with your name as it appears on the check, the routing number and the account number and that is all you have to do. This is better for all involved. You don't have to remember to write a check. (You don't want your insurance to lapse because you were on vacation or were too busy.) It is less expensive for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina® to debit an account rather than handle a paper check, and send a paper bill.

You don't have to worry about BCBSNC® stopping the automatic debit if you cancel your insurance. Unlike other companies you may have done business with in the past, BCBSNC® is diligent about stopping the automatic debit. North Carolina insurance companies are regulated by the North Carolina Department of Insurance. As long as you follow the procedures necessary to stop an automatic debit, you won't have trouble. Simply, the procedure is to provide the insurance company a letter requesting cancellation of the policy on a particular date, the policy number, the names of the people covered on the policy and your signature.
